Leicester’s meeting on Monday is under threat from the weather with officials at the track planning to inspect the course at 9am on Sunday.

The going is currently described as heavy, waterlogged in places and more rain is forecast over the weekend.

“We had a good day yesterday and improved quite a bit, but we still have a few tricky spots and the forecast isn’t brilliant,” said clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson.

“I would like to see a better forecast and hopefully they have got it wrong.”
