Inter Milan retained their Serie A crown today after winning at Siena while nearest challengers Roma slipped up at Atalanta.

Two goals from former Everton centre-half Marco Materazzi were enough for Inter to earn a 2-1 win against a home side who had earlier drawn level through a Paolo Negro goal.

Roma were impressive 3-1 winners at Inter on Wednesday – a result which delayed the Nerazzurri‘s title celebrations for a few days at least – were unable to repeat the feat at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

Cristiano Doni opened the scoring for the hosts and Riccardo Zampagna made it 2-0 just before half-time.

The Giallorossi pulled one back through Simone Perrotta after 64 minutes but they were unable to find an equaliser with Matteo Ferrari sent off at the end for the Eternal City club.
