AIB and Bank of Scotland (Ireland) have both reported a huge increase in profits for the first half of this year.
AIB said today that its pre-tax profits for the first six months of the year were just over €1.2bn, up 59% on the same period last year.
Its profits in the Republic of Ireland were up 19% to €453m.
Bank of Scotland (Ireland), meanwhile, said its pre-tax profits were up 37% to €102m over the same period.
Both companies also say they are optimistic about the positive outlook for the rest of the year.
