Gardaí are investigating an armed raid in Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating an armed raid in Dublin.

A man armed with a gun stole a substantial amount of money after threatening staff at the post office on Merrion Row at around 10am this morning.

The man then walked to a nearby hotel where he got into a light blue Skoda taxi which drove along Merrion Street and turned right onto Baggot Street.

The suspect is described as being in his 50s and of heavy build. He was wearing glasses, a hat and dark jacket and spoke with an English accent.

Gardaí at Pearse Street are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
