Dublin boy needs 50 stitches after dog attack (warning - graphic images)
A young Dublin boy required 50 stitches to his face after a dog attack outside his grandmother’s house on Tuesday.
10-year-old Cameron Lynch also needed surgery at Children's University Hospital, Temple Street for his injuries after a reported 11 deep lacerations to his face from the attack.
The dog, reported to be a Siberian husky, has since been put down.
Cameron told his mother that the dog turned on him after he stopped petting it and turned to stroke another dog.
According to the Irish Daily Star Cameron, who is a child model, was due to be on TV3’s Ireland AM to model clothes yesterday.
“Cameron said when he turned around the dog growled. He could see his teeth and he just pinned him up against the wall,” she said.
“I collapsed to the ground. I tried to ring an ambulance, but the words - they weren’t coming out of my mouth to speak to the women.
“People were telling me ‘he’s alright’. They were running around (saying) ‘get towels, get towels’, so as soon as I heard that I imagined the worst thing,” said the mother.
Cameron's mother Jacqueline Lynch told the Pat Kenny show on Newstalk this morning that she went into a state of shock after hearing about the attack.
Cameron left Temple Street yesterday and doctors expect the boy to make a full recovery from his injuries.
