Animal welfare officers in the North have seized 10 crocodiles and other reptiles found in the boot of a car in Co Down last night.

The reptiles were recovered during a joint operation by the PSNI and the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals just outside Newry.

The USPCA said it believed they were intended for sale in the North

More reptiles were also recovered from a house near Omagh in Co Tyrone, but it is unclear if that raid was connected in any way with the Newry operation.
