Report recommends private speed camera operation
The Government is now seriously considering the introduction of privately owned speed cameras following a report recommending the new system which would make more than €70m in the first year of operations.
The privatised system would mean more speed checks at weekends and at night time, when most accidents happen.
The Cabinet will discuss the move when it meets on Monday.
