The Democratic Unionist Party is expected to decide this weekend whether to endorse or reject Irish-British proposals for restoring the power-sharing institutions in the North.

Party leader Ian Paisley is expected to seek final clarification on the IRA’s decommissioning offer and changes to the workings of the Good Friday Agreement when he meets British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday.

The DUP is then expected to finalise its position over the weekend. The party's deputy leader, Peter Robinson, said last night that valuable progress had been made, but stumbling blocks remained.

Meanwhile, a Sinn Féin delegation is due to hold talks with Mr Blair in London today.
