The financials led the charge today as the ISEQ index of shares gained 76.70 points to close at 7717.22.
Anglo Irish was up 34c (almost 3%) to €11.79, AIB gained 18c to €20.03, while Bank of Ireland was up 13c to €14.53.
Meanwhile, Irish Life & Permanent closed 9c higher at €19.14.
Insurance group FBD was also on the up today as it gained 50c to €39.50.
Low cost carrier Ryanair's shares were up 3c to €7.18. The airline, which had to cancel eight flights today at Stansted, accused airport operator BAA of “a chronic inability to staff security facilities”.
