Plans for an “elegant” €395m terminal at Dublin Airport are to be lodged this week.
Construction work on Terminal 2, which will handle 15 million passengers a year, will begin next spring.
Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), which launched its ambitious plan today, hopes to have the 75,000 square metre facility up and running within three years.
But travellers are expected to bear the brunt of the massive renovation projects throughout Dublin Airport, which have already exceeded last year’s estimated budget of €1.2bn.
Passenger charges could increase up to €750 over the next four years.
“T2 will provide an elegant and contemporary gateway for 21st century Ireland,” said DAA chairman Gary McGann.
