Tall Ships start postponed as calm weather prevails

The tall ships race which was due to start from Waterford today has been postponed because of a lack of wind.

The tall ships race which was due to start from Waterford today has been postponed because of a lack of wind.

The vessels have left Waterford city and are now positioned off Dunmore East awaiting better winds in order to set sail again.

The race was due to start at 3pm, is now expected to begin tomorrow.

Organisers said that almost 500,000 people visited the city over the course of the four-day event.
