Wigan's Landzaat bid accepted

Wigan’s bid for Holland midfielder Denny Landzaat has been accepted by his club AZ Alkmaar.

Wigan’s bid for Holland midfielder Denny Landzaat has been accepted by his club AZ Alkmaar.

The 30-year-old, who featured for the Dutch at the 2006 World Cup, has 21 caps for his country.

The Latics are up against Spanish side Espanyol for Landzaat, who helped AZ to the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup two seasons ago, but manager Paul Jewell is confident of getting his man.

“He’s a player that I think can make a big impact at Wigan and I hope we can finalise the deal,” he told the club’s official website www.wiganlatics.co.uk.

“It is not normal for us to comment on targets before a deal is completed but in this instance the news has already been made public.”
