A 16-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident in Co Monaghan this morning.

A 16-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident in Co Monaghan this morning.

The boy was walking on the road when he was struck by a car at Cloughvally Upper on the Carrickmacross bypass.

The accident happened just before 6am.

Witnesses are being asked to contact gardaí.
