Michael Jarvis sends Josh across the Channel to Deauville tomorrow for the Listed Prix Herod.
The two-year-old boasts useful form from his five starts so far, scoring twice and finishing seventh to Caesar Beware in the £200,000 (€288,080) St Leger Yearling Stakes at Doncaster.
Josh was far from disgraced on his latest start when sixth behind Ad Valorem in the Shadwell Stud Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month and will be reunited with regular partner Philip Robinson at the Normandy track.
“We believe that he is in good form,” said owner Terry Holdcroft. “In the Middle Park they checked him a couple of times because he was held up at the back and Philip said that he wished that he had made more use of him.
“But he has run well for us this season and we wanted to give him another run, so we hope that he goes well.”
Josh will take on a field of seven other domestic-trained colts and fillies, with the most obvious dangers looking to be Criquette Head-Maarek’s unbeaten Silent Name and the consistent Molto Bello from the Yves De Nicolay yard.
