A leading loyalist is due in court today charged with inciting rioting and riotous behaviour.

The charge follows another weekend of intense rioting in the Ardoyne and Limestone Road areas of north Belfast, which left a British soldier critically ill with blast bomb injuries.

Most of the violence has been blamed on the UDA, whose ceasefire was declared ‘over’ by the British Government last month.

Despite this move, very few UDA activists have been arrested in connection with the ongoing violence.
