Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny and Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte today ruled out a joint election manifesto in favour of a "statement of intent" to enter coalition together.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny and Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte today ruled out a joint election manifesto in favour of a "statement of intent" to enter coalition together.

The pre-election pact is slowly taking shape following informal talks between the two.

Both men insisted voters would be given a clear choice in the General Election: “I think already people appreciate that there's an alternative government in prospect. Our broad statement of intent will obviously signal the orientation of the alternative government on the big issues."
