€30 Dublin burglary leaves 97-year-old man in shock

A 97-year-old man is suffering from shock after an intruder broke into his north Dublin house and stole cash from his trouser pocket yesterday.

A 97-year-old man is suffering from shock after an intruder broke into his north Dublin house and stole cash from his trouser pocket yesterday.

The burglary happened at Church Street, in Balbriggan, at 5.15pm.

It is thought that the intruder knocked on the front door then ran around the back of the house, where he broke in.

The thief, described as a young man wearing a multi-coloured cap or hat, took €30 from the pensioner.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity at the time of the incident to contact them.
