Confusion over funding for Dublin airport metro station

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and the Railway Procurement Agency are believed to be at loggerheads over the cost of a new metro station at Dublin airport.

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) and the Railway Procurement Agency are believed to be at loggerheads over the cost of a new metro station at Dublin airport.

The Agency has said it believes the DAA should contribute to the cost of building an underground station at the airport, but the DAA's three-year expenditure plan doesn't mention contributing to the project.

Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil TD Pat Carey is welcoming proposals for a line to serve the Blanchardstown area.

He says better public transport links are needed for its growing population.

“The Blanchardstown area is the fastest growing community in the whole of the country.” he said.

“With this kind of infrastructure at the planning stage, I think it will give some reassurance to people that when they decide to live in Blanchardstown and places like the new developments in the Finglas area, that they will be guaranteed quality public services and transport services available to them.”
