The runaway success of the Magners cider brand in the UK is underpinning a 25% jump in turnover at drink and snacks company C&C.

The group said today it expects to see a 4% increase in overall operating margin, even after it increased its marketing spend.

The good summer in Ireland also buoyed sales of the group's cider, which trades here as Bulmers.

Overall, turnover growth in the cider division for the period is expected to top 75% after a 7% increase in sales of Bulmers and volume growth of about 250% for Magners.

Turnover in the soft drinks and snacks division is expected to be down by 3%, reflecting the loss of the Danone Water brands, V&C said today.

Interim results, for the six months ended 31 August 2006, will be announced on 12 October, 2006.
