The Taoiseach is in Gothenburg this afternoon, for the EU summit being held in the city.
Bertie Ahern will also meet with British Prime Minister Tony Blair this evening to discuss the recent election results in the North and their implications for the peace process.
The two men are expected to agree a timetable for an intensive round of talks with the pro-Agreement parties, set to begin next week at Hillsborough Castle.
Tomorrow, Mr Ahern will face the difficult task of trying to explain Ireland's rejection of the Nice Treaty to the other 14 EU leaders.
