European transport ministers are due to meet in Luxembourg today to finalise EU plans to introduce an "open skies" policy with the United States.

European transport ministers are due to meet in Luxembourg today to finalise EU plans to introduce an "open skies" policy with the United States.

If passed, the plan would end Ireland's bilateral air agreement with the US and could have drastic consequences for Shannon Airport.

It would spell an end to the arrangement between Ireland and the US and possibly to the Shannon stop-over.
