Five PSNI officers injured in Belfast flag protest

Five police officers have been injured in rioting over the restriction of the flying of the Union flag Belfast City Hall.

The PSNI say a crowd of more than 100 young people threw bricks and bottles at officers in Newtownabbey and set a car on fire lastnight.

Security sources said the trouble started when youths tried to remove Irish tricolour flags from lampposts and were challenged by police.
