The Nigerian man arrested on his wedding day on foot of a deportation has been returned to his home country, according to government sources.

The Nigerian man arrested on his wedding day on foot of a deportation has been returned to his home country, according to government sources.

Femi Adesoji, 40, was on his way to a registry office in Carlow with his 18-year-old fiancee when he was arrested by gardai on January 24.

The Government had issued a deportation order against him in July 2001, but he had not reported to his local garda station to facilitate that order.
