Irish protesters will be protesting today as part Global Frackdown Day.
Fracking is a process involving pumping a mixture of water, sand and chemicals under huge pressure into gas-bearing rock to extract the gas.
Leah Doherty from No Fracking Ireland explained how they will protest today.
"Here in Leitrim, we're actually going to have a flotilla of boats on the Shannon River … which is to highlight the threat to our waterways in Ireland," she said.
The group said that that 12 counties in the Shannon Basin Region are currently under license to fracking companies and they want the process banned.
"The whole of the Shannon basin region is actually under threat from this industry," claimed Ms Doherty.
