Stoppages will continue if talks break down, say nurses

Nursing unions said today that they will proceed with further work stoppages if talks with the Health Service Executive break down.

Nursing unions said today that they will proceed with further work stoppages if talks with the Health Service Executive break down.

The INO and the PNA are meeting with health service employers at the National Implementation Body in an effort to bring an end to the four-week old dispute over pay and a shorter working week.

Planned work stoppages were called off earlier this week when the talks resumed.

"What we're focussing on at the minute is a set of negotiations - the latest chapter of them," said Liam Doran of the INO.

"If they go well, then we make progress. If they don't go well, then we'll have a joint meeting with our two executives and determine what we do."
