Two candidates declare for UUP leadership race

Just two people have so far declared themselves as candidates for the UUP leadership election, due to take place at the end of this month.

Just two people have so far declared themselves as candidates for the UUP leadership election, due to take place at the end of this month.

John Taylor and David McNarry have both said they intend to contest the vote, while the favourite, Reg Empey, is expected to announce his intentions soon.

Other possible candidates include the veteran politician Ken Magennis and younger figures like Basil McCrae.
