A group of religious faith-based people and organisations have joined forces to call for a Yes vote in the forthcoming Marriage Equality Referendum.
Faith in Marriage Equality is comprised of people from a range of faith backgrounds and organisations including We are Church Ireland, Gay Catholic Voice Ireland and the Church of Ireland group Changing Attitude Ireland.
Dr Richard O'Leary said people of faith can exercise their freedom of conscience to vote Yes to same-sex marriage in this referendum.
"So far we haven’t heard the voices of people of faith saying that they will be voting yes and that this is consistent with their faith's values," he said.
"Our understanding of faith is that marriange is based on love and commitment and this is the case for hetereosexual and same-sex couples."
