Elderly man dies after hit-and-run in Roscommon

A man has died after being knocked down in County Roscommon yesterday evening.

A man has died after being knocked down in County Roscommon yesterday evening.

The 65-year-old was crossing the Carrick Road in Boyle when he was hit by a car at about 7.30pm last night.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for a time, however it has now re-opened following a forensic examination of the scene.
