INO: Budget a missed opportunity

The general secretary of the Irish Nurses Organisation has described the Budget as a missed opportunity.

The general secretary of the Irish Nurses Organisation has described the Budget as a missed opportunity.

Liam Doran said the Minister for Finance’s announcement of funding for the disability sector does not explain where the staff will come from to provide the care needed.

“You cannot have a health service, you cannot have an intellectual disability service, without staff and this Budget seems to omit the need to retain an adequate service,” he said.

"Nurses will still be paid €5,000 less than other unqualified staff. That is not acceptable and this Budget is a missed opportunity to address that issue.”
