A week-old baby is being treated in hospital following a fire at a house in Co Derry early this morning.

A week-old baby is being treated in hospital following a fire at a house in Co Derry early this morning.

The blaze in Cairnhill is understood to have been started by a child playing with a sparkler.

The baby, who is being treated for the effects of smoke inhalation, was one of five people in the house at the time.

The building was badly damaged in the blaze.
