Eddie Jordan today quashed speculation surrounding the future of driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen by confirming he will race for his Silverstone-based team next year.

The German had been linked with a big-money move to Toyota, who will make their Formula One debut in 2002, and a switch to race in the predominantly US-based CART championship.

But Jordan said at the European Grand Prix in Germany today that the 34-year-old would see out a two-year contract he signed with the team last July.

‘‘Heinz signed a two-year contract with us last year which means he will race with Benson and Hedges Jordan Honda, as always agreed, in 2002,’’ said Jordan.
