Officials from the Ulster Unionist Party are to meet representatives of loyalist paramilitaries today in an effort to prevent sectarian violence during this year's loyalist marching season.

The UUP officials will meet members of the Ulster Political Research Group and the Progressive Unionist Party, the political wings of the UDA and UVF.

The marching season is traditionally associated with sectarian violence between loyalists and nationalists, particularly those living at interface areas in Belfast.
