Adams reiterates call for Orange Order talks

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has reiterated his call on the Orange Order to engage in talks with republicans to resolve disputes about contentious parades.

Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has reiterated his call on the Orange Order to engage in talks with republicans to resolve disputes about contentious parades.

Adams made a similar call earlier this year, but it was rejected by the order, which accused Sinn Féin of glorifying the murder of Orange members during the Troubles.

The Sinn Féin president has now written an open letter telling Orangemen that, if they want meaningful respect from the republican community, it must be mutual.

He says the order has shown little respect for nationalist areas where it insists on holding parades.

Mr Adams is also denying that he has ever glorified IRA murders.
