Shipman features in anti-smoking advert
Harold Shipman and other murderers will feature in a TV advertisement designed to deter teenage smokers.
It uses images of Shipman, Jack the Ripper and Adolf Hitler to show young people that smoking is "the biggest serial killer of all".
The advert was written by 12-year-olds for the Cancer Research Campaign.
The charity said it chose the hard-hitting idea because it was "controversial, brilliant and a real winner". It is the first anti-smoking advert written for children by children.
Six boys from the independent City of London School, who came up with the idea, were named as winners of the Cancer Research Campaign's competition to create an anti-smoking advert.
Pop group Cleopatra and Grange Hill stars Kate Bell and Peter Morton announced that they had beaten 2,500 other entries to win the national competition.
Daniel Stubbert, Lawrence Yong, Ishmael Norris, Adam Wong, Anand Shah and Ricky Wan, will now work with a team of producers and advertising executives for six weeks to get the 30-second piece ready for screening on National No Smoking Day, March 14.
Cleopatra singers Cleo, 18, Yonah, 16, and Zainam, 20 posed for photographs with the boys at the charity's headquarters at Regent's Park, central London. The three sisters got involved with the anti-smoking campaign after fearing their mother Christine would die of cancer from her 40-a-day habit.
