Rory Delap and Stephen Reid have both withdrawn from the Irish squad to face Cyprus this Saturday because of injuries.

Delap was ruled out with a foot injury today, while Reid is still struggling with a hamstring problem.

That leaves Ireland manager Mick McCarthy shot of defenders for the final World Cup qualifier, with just Steve Finnan, Steve Staunton, Ian Harte and Andy O’Brien available for selection.

McCarthy may now have to call up Stephen McPhail and John O’Shea as cover for the injured duo.
