Syndicate suing former FF councillor over land deal

A one-time running mate of the Taoiseach Brian Cowen is being sued in the High Court for making a secret profit of €6m on a land deal.

Former Fianna Fáil Councillor Ger Killally put together a syndicate in 2006 to buy land in Co Offaly from his father in law for €10.6m.

But the court heard today that unbeknownst to the other investors, Mr Killally had already bought the land for €4.7m and was making a massive profit by selling it on to them.

He is now being sued by members of the syndicate.
