Special phone lines that were set up by the Government to deal with queries from pensioners, are set to re-open again this morning.

It follows last week's revelations that up to 115,000 retired people may be liable to pay tax in arrears on their pensions.

The Revenue Commissioners announced that it had communicated to 150,000 pensioners, informing them that their tax status may require updating.

The announcement led to fears among some people that their income would be drastically affected.

Anyone with concerns will be able to contact the Revenue Commissioners from 9.15am this morning.
