Hundreds of nationalist rioters tonight launched an attack on a police station in Northern Ireland.
Security cameras were pulled down from the perimeter of the building in Lurgan, Co Armagh, as the mob went on the rampage.
Tricolours were erected on a war memorial in the nearby town centre, a Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said.
Trouble flared as Armagh’s footballers clinched an historic victory in the All-Ireland Final in Dublin.
Around 30 rival loyalists who emerged from the Market Street area began fighting with the Catholic crowds.
At least one police officer suffered minor injuries as security forces tried to end the fighting.
The PSNI spokesman said: “Police trying to keep the crowds apart then came under sustained attack from the nationalist crowd throwing bottles, missiles and stones.”
Earlier thousands of fans in Lurgan and throughout Northern Ireland had been captivated by Armagh’s success.
The team defeated Kerry to win the All-Ireland final for the first time in its history.
