Man seriously ill after fall from dinghy in Clare

A man is believed to be in a serious condition hospital after he fell overboard from a dinghy near Kilkee in Co Clare this afternoon.

A man is believed to be in a serious condition hospital after he fell overboard from a dinghy near Kilkee in Co Clare this afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 2pm today when a person was reported to be in difficulty in the sea near Donegal Point, just north of Kilkee.

The Kilkee Marine Rescue Service and the Irish Coastguard then launched a rescue operation and the man was taken from the water.

He was airlifted to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where it is believed that he is in a serious condition.
