ISEQ finishes almost 4% up

The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed at 2,048.36 this evening, an increase of 84.02 points or 4.28%.

There was mixed news for the major banks, AIB was down 8c to 34c, Bank of Ireland also fell, 1c to 18c, but Irish Life & Permanent increased 19c to 91c.

Across the board there were big risers, none more so than Icon, which gained €1.22 to €16.30. Others to go up were DCC (48c to €10.70), C&C, up 12c to €1.11, Glanbia, which rose 29c to €2.13, Paddy Power, which added 50c to finish at €12.20, and CRH, which increased 65c to €16.20.

Fallers were not too common, but those that did report drops were Elan, down 29c to €4.22, and FBD, which lost 40c to finish at €6.70.
