A six-bed inpatient psychiatric unit for teenagers has been officially opened in Dublin.

A six-bed inpatient psychiatric unit for teenagers has been officially opened in Dublin.

The unit - St Joseph's, which is at St Vincent's Hospital in Fairview - is designed and staffed to treat 16- to 18-year-olds with severe and/or complex mental health difficulties.

Twenty-five teenagers have been admitted for care and treatment since the unit came into operation in March.
