One of the women wrongly given the all-clear for breast cancer at Portlaoise Hospital has criticised the HSE's handling of the situation.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, is among nine patients recently diagnosed with breast cancer after initially being given the all-clear in Portlaoise.

Her positive diagnosis was confirmed last week after she underwent fresh tests in Dublin.

The woman has criticised the length of time she was left waiting for these tests, saying she left her home at 10am to attend the hospital, but was not seen until 5pm and did not arrive back home until after 10pm.

She has also criticised the length of time it took the HSE to announce the final total of misdiagnosed women.
