Teen rockers McFly were celebrating their first UK number one single last night after knocking R&B star Usher off the top of the charts.
The British boyband, who recently supported Busted on a sold out UK tour, cruised in at number one, with their new single 5 Colours In Her Hair.
Usher’s soulful single, Yeah, featuring Lil’ Jon and Ludacris, was knocked down to number two after just a week on top of the charts, while Slow Jamz by Twista debuted at number three.
DJ Casper’s novelty record Cha Cha Slide fell two to number four, with Anastacia, Blue, Britney Spears, Atomic Kitten, Kanye West and Outkast filling slots six to ten.
But there was disappointment for two golden oldies – with the Pet Shop Boys new single Flamboyant limping in at number 12, and Simply Red’s Home just scraping into the chart at number 40.
In the album charts, Usher suffered another blow as he was knocked off the top spot by US soul diva Anastacia with her eponymously titled record.
Heavy metal favourites Guns N’ Roses moved up one spot to number two with their Greatest Hits collection, Usher’s Confessions was at three, while George Michael’s critically-acclaimed album Patience fell two places to four.
Meanwhile, jazz singer Katie Melua continued her impressive chart run by hanging on to the number five spot with her LP Call Off The Search.
