The men, aged 20, 29 and 31, were arrested yesterday morning, in the north inner city.

They are expected to appear before the Courts of Criminal Justice later today.

Gardaí say they are monitoring the activities of dissident republicans very closely ahead of the Queen's visit here next week.

They are also watching al-Qaida sympathisers living in Ireland and who may pose a theat.

Yesterday a man, a converted Muslim, was arrested after he allegedly made threats to kill or harm the US President, who is due here on May 23.

Gardaí also arrested a man who was seen taking photographs at the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin He has since been released without charge.

Meanwhile, three men are due in court later, charged in connection with dissident and criminal activity in Dublin.

More than 10,000 gardaí and army personnel are being deployed for this major security operation, further details of which will be unveiled later today.
