Beaumont nurses' work-to-rule deferred

A work to rule by nurses at Beaumont Hospital has been deferred.

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation at the medical and surgical department had been due to begin the action today.

The dispute centres on conditions for patients and staff in both sections of the hospital.

The union and management are now due to go to the Workplace Relations Commission for a review of negotiations at the end of January.

In October, INMO Industrial Relations Officer, Lorraine Monaghan said: "It is unacceptable that in 2015 patients are subjected to such degrading, inhumane conditions when they are at their most vulnerable.

"This situation has continued to worsen with overcrowding levels up by 40% in the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same period last year."
