Ecuador to grant Assange asylum

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will be offered asylum to Ecuador according to the Guardian newspaper.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will be offered asylum to Ecuador according to the Guardian newspaper.

Ecuadorian officials said the president, Rafael Correa, has agreed to grant Mr Assange asylum.

The WikiLeaks founder has been holed up at Ecuador's London embassy since June 19.

At present, he faces arrest as soon as he leaves the embassy after breaching bail conditions.

The Australian national is wanted in Sweden on charges of sexual assault.
