Former government minister Michael Lowry will continue his evidence to the Moriarty Tribunal later today.

The north Tipperary TD will be quizzed further about a £147,000 loan he received from the late Fine Gael fundraiser David Austen in 1996.

Yesterday, Mr Lowry said there was nothing covert about the loan, which he described as purely commercial.

He also denied that the repayment of the loan was influenced by the establishment of the McCracken Tribunal.
