Last month was colder than normal, data published today confirmed, with Dublin Airport's weather station recording its coolest July in 46 years at an average temperature of 13.8 degrees.

Last month was colder than normal, data published today confirmed, with Dublin Airport's weather station recording its coolest July in 46 years at an average temperature of 13.8 degrees.

Rainfall was average or below average last month, except for some stations along Atlantic coasts which recorded about only half of the average rainfall for the month.

Sunshine was below average for the month in most parts of the country, except in the west.
