The National Library says no artifacts were damaged or in danger during a small fire there today.

The National Library says no artifacts were damaged or in danger during a small fire there today.

The blaze broke out in the basement of a building on Kildare Street which houses the library's administrative offices.

It was brought under control after the library and nearby buildings were evacuated.

The National Library says the fire began during maintenance works.
