Dual mandate bill clause to be dropped today
The cabinet is expected to approve the dropping of the dual mandate aspect of the Local Government Bill later today.
Environment Minister Noel Dempsey was forced into a humiliating climbdown by the four independents supporting the coalition.
The issue arose over the proposed ban on TDs also holding county council seats.
